The show was watched by more than one billion viewers around the world. At the time, Nichols reported on TNT's NBA broadcasts, including the regular season, playoffs, and All-Star broadcast teams. Nichols also reported on baseball, golf as well as Final Four broadcasts for CBS as well as TBS. It was the only time in the award's 42-year-old history that a woman was included among the over 200 nominees.
